QUICK SUMMARY OF ISSUE:
- NOT STARTING - STOPS AT SPLASH SCREEN
- LOG ONLY GOES UNTIL "INITIALIZING OPENGL" AND STOPS
- DRIVERS UP TO DATE, COULD BE ISSUE WITH HYBRID CARD?

DETAILS:
I downloaded this program onto my desktop and fell in love with it, but when trying to use it on my laptop it will not start. It crashes on the splash screen with the error message "3D space simulator has stopped working". My machine is a Dell Studio 1558 laptop running Windows 8 and has a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series card. I have updated my drivers fully, but I believe the problem might be with opengl not working properly? Here is my log (it's very short):

SpaceEngine Version 0.9.7.0 beta

STARTING
Loading script "config/main.cfg"
Loading script "config/universe.cfg"
Loading script "config/user.cfg"
Loading image "textures/common/splash07.jpg"
DONE

INITIALIZING OPENGL

As you can see, it seems to stop at "INITIALIZING OPENGL". I checked out the part in troubleshooting on how to fix problems with possible hybrid cards, but I also don't have/can't download Catalyst Control Center on this computer to mess with that angle. Anyone have any suggestions?

Many thanks!

You should have posted in the troubleshooting thread.

Theres a thread with the SE stopped working, so maybe look at that or look in the troubleshooting thread to see if anything helps. Also, SE log.

smjjames - I looked through all of the related threads and found nothing, hence why I made my own post.
Everybody else's logs (including on my desktop) make it past the "INITIALIZING OPENGL" message, which is where I think my situation differs from others I've found (at least from what I understand!).
