Programming for a new spectral class?

I'd really like to program in a class Y star (specifically WISE 1828+2560). I tried adding in a few lines of code for this star, specifying that it was class Y, but it seems Space Engine doesn't recognize it (it creates a standard class G star in color and temperature, but it gives strange luminosity and mass readings, and both the spectrum and type read "unknown"). I was wondering what file I would have to edit to create a class Y classification.

I once came up with that suggestion aswell to add class ''Y''

However... they told me that brown dwarfs in general are not really very common and fully modified yet.

I would believe that the majority of SSO's (sub-stellar objects) would indeed be type T10 or class Y

I don't know... I would love to see this aswell. And a more common variety of subdwarfs (sd/VI) in galactic halo's.

And perhaps very low mass independant ''sub-brown dwarfs'' that do not orbit a star with masses below 13 Jupi's xD

I think it would be cool if brown dwarf stars looked more like this rather than just a red/brown gas giant

Brown dwarfs would probably not look nearly that heterogeneous. Their appearance would vary from something like a gas giant to something like a red dwarf, depending on mass and temperature.

I agree with HarbingerDawn...

I guess it would be like this (in terms of spectral types):

T5 - T9-T10 (Y?) : very dull reddish, probably purplish with a gas giant looking appearance (from close)

T0 - T5 : dull reddish with a gas giant look

L5 - T0 : reddish with a gas giant look

L0 - L5 : I think these would probably look like very deep red dwarfs and perhaps as dim as -12 to -15 from 1 AU

M5 - L0 : These are red dwarfs ofcourse, however there have been dozen of class M7, M8 and M9 ''brown dwarfs'' discovered aswell...

Lol, by the way Doc that brown dwarf looks like it has a continent just like Africa (slightly different though) but you get the point xD

Color would depend on temperature, not spectral class (with brown dwarfs, these two things are not as related as they are with stars).
