I just really REALLY hope this comes out for PC. I don't have a PS4 and I don't want or need one, but I absolutely want to play this game...

I will be inactive on this forum for the time being. Might come back eventually

It actually is coming to PC. I am excited as this game has so much more potential on PC alone.

*comes out of hiding mode*
I'm a massive 4x game fan (Moo2, Endless Space, Final frontier mod, gal. civ 2), but I was yet to find a game that gives me the feeling of scope I was searching for. Untill now. Enter Distant Worlds: universe . it's the closest I have felt to ruling a actual galactic empire. the game has immense micromanagement, but you can set AI automation to multiple levels, so for example, if you don't want to control how you recruit troops planetside, you can just automate it, or don't want to worry about research, automate it.
The universe it generates is Absolutely massive, with a maximum of 1400 solar systems/nebulae, and each solar system having 0-10 planets you can mine, possibly colonize, or destroy.
it's a bit lackluster graphics-wise, and the UI is pretty iffy at best, once I got the hang of it, It became my fave 4x game of all time. Sadly it also has a AAA price tag at 55 euros, which is very expensive, and it has no demo either, so I reccomend looking for videos, or... yeah. Anyhow, you can check the game out here:
http://www.matrixgames.com/product....niverse

EDit: it's also a bit how I hope a space engine strategy game would be like :P

DoctorOfSpace, I thought Watch Dogs was a real let down to what it could have been. I feel like the devs kindof forced this one, but they did say that is was a franchise, so maybe in the second one it could be improved greatly, and I believe so that they will.

I posted that shortly after the video was uploaded.

It seems highly ambitious and will probably be a bad game. The only thing to really look forward to is their engine development but Outerra is still years better.

I have only gotten through some of the first act and done a bunch of side mission stuff. The open world Chicago is great, the story so far is bland and uninspired. I find I enjoy the side missions the most as they take advantage of the better elements of gameplay, if you can call press X to win gameplay. The stealth gunplay is pretty good though, takedowns are satisfying but needed to be more than press F for cutscene, and the driving is terrible.

The default Watch_Dogs is also kind of ugly, but with the new mods it looks really nice.

DoctorOfSpace, Some of the elements are pretty good such as the side missions, but honestly a lot of it was just... crap. My PC isn't powerful enough to handle it with mods. And I have heard that the E3 bloom or something is hidden within the files of the game. I remember way back then the game looked fantastic and now it looks gross.

The guy who did the mod apparently enabled a bunch of old settings, tweaked them, and enabled some performance settings so it has been known to run a bit better with his mod. I had a performance increase with it and other people have had increases in performance, increases that allowed them to go from medium and low to high and ultra settings.

Maybe in the future if/when more mods come out the game will have replay value, but even now I find the missions to be tedious at times. Perhaps a sequel will solve these issues, but I wouldn't count on it.

I finished the entire game(watch_dogs) a few days ago, and to be honest it wasn't nearly as good as I expected. Here are some of the things that were bad:

1. The driving was one of the worst features of the game. The steering is completely unrealistic, and it seems that whatever car you enter magically becomes as sturdy as an armored truck. I find it hilarious that when you, for example, hit another car head-on, the other car gets completely obliterated while your car barely even gets it's paintjob scratched.

2. The police-calling mechanic is so unrealistic that it is absurd. When you steal a car, for example, the civ almost always calls the police(even at highest reputation) but when you go around driving at 100 mph on the sidewalk, running people over like bowling pins NO ONE calls the police. Also, actual police patrols are so rare that I have encountered only 4 or so total. For some time, I didn't even know that the police patrols existed.

3. Your reputation level doesn't seem to change absolutely anything. Although the game says that a higher reputation means less civs calling cops, I for one haven't noticed any difference. It is as if the reputation meter is there just as a psychological thing, to make you feel good if you have a high rep.

4. The crime system is relatively interesting in the beginning, but gets repetitive very soon.

5. Criminal convoys(sidemission) get boring relatively soon, since they are all the same, only the route is different and a few vehicles are different.

6. Earning money is way too easy. All you have to do is literally hold 'Q' when you profile someone with a bank account, do that to more people, go to an ATM and *BAM* there's your money! You don't even get a wanted level for doing so. I have managed to earn 500,000$ just by doing this. It requires no effort and beats the purpose of having money there in the first place - if all you have to do is hold 'Q' a bunch of times and go to an ATM to buy a new gun, you might as well just make it free.

7. Fixer contracts(sidemission) are pointless. They only pay 1000$ or so, money which you can easily earn just by hacking two or three people. They aren't even fun most of the time. It is either a race against a timer(boring with the bad driving mechanics), hacking and killing a guy(who is in a car, so it is again boring due to the bad driving mechanics) or running from the police(not as boring as the previous ones).

8. The hacking isn't as impressive as one may think. All that you can basically do is change traffic lights(the funnest one, it is strangely interesting watching cars get embroilled in a huge traffic accident), blow steam pipes up, raise bollard and spikes(you use this almost exclusively during car chases), raise bridges and cause blackouts.

There are, however, some good parts of the game too:

1. The stealth system is nicely implemented.

2. Gang hideouts(sidemission) are very fun(due to the good stealth system).

3. Multiplayer is extremely addicting.

4. The gunplay is good.

5. Not a bad story(though it doesn't even come close to the story of a GTA game, for example)

In conclusion, once I finished the story I didn't play the game anymore since I didn't feel like there was anything interesting left to do.

The police calling mechanic is working perfectly fine for me. Nobody is calling when I steal a car because I have unlocked a hack that disables the alarms and locking systems, and being a vigilante makes NPCs go "Hey! I like what you're doing! I won't call the cops this time, but you better run away before someone does it" when I get a gun out or catch a criminal. Also, I get random citizen taking pictures of me ^^

Being on the "good side" of the rep bar makes that you can run around not paying attention to the news and the citizens, but I have a friend who is way down in the rep bar and almost everytime when he buy guns, the news goes "If you see this man, notify police immediately" and he has to threaten the vendor to stop him from triggering an alarm. Also, people who recognize you while being marked as criminal and random people will eventually cal the police.

So yes, the rep bar does make a difference, I don't know why you didn't see it.

Else, yeah, with only 20 different crime scenes you will quickly get bored doing them. But you sure need them as they make your rep go way up, and I do them after killing cops, because those gets your rep down (when you shoot at the knees, it's "fine", but if you happen to shoot wherever else, it's not fine at all).

Criminal convoys are fun, maybe a bit repetitive, but fun nonetheless. But for me the best is the car chases, with all the power of ctOS in your smartphone, even 10 cars after me is nothing, in 2 minutes of pursuit I have taken them all down.

That, of course, is only offline. Online, the decryption match is lots of fun, and the challenge of hacking someone else is really here.

Surprisingly, I more or less spent as much time playing poker that I do doing mssions.
Drinking games are super-hard!

That is not what I meant. I meant stealing cars when somebody is inside by draging the driver out. Then people call the police a lot.

I didn't know that it was really that bad when you go far down in rep since I am always maintaining a good rep, but the difference between 'citizen' and 'vigilantine' is still nonexistant, that is the problem.

I think that it is far less than 20. I can only remember the mugging(2 variants), the holdup, the arson, the hitman, the assault(3 variants) and the shooter(the one with the victim sitting on a bench, this one is really annoying and hard to prevent) crime scenes. That is a total of 9 crime scenes, not including the ones that happen spontaneously(an additional 2)

This is because your car becomes as sturdy as a tank once you enter it. I actually find this bad since it takes away from the challenge. Even putting that aside, practically the only ways of taking someone down is ramming them, blowing up a steam pipe below them, activating the traffic lights or raising bollards/spikes. Even this is oversimplified since you get the 'Neutralize' option every time you can take someone down - it takes away from the challenge again. There should be an option to turn this off for the ones that want a better challenge.

I found it pretty fun too, though the cheating mechanic(hacking the camera and seeing the cards) sucked.

I only found the one with the redneck in Pawnee very challenging, otherwise the rest are relatively easy.
