Speed of light travel

| Hi, guys!
I'm wondering if I'm moving at the speed of light in the vacuum of space, I'll be at the Alpha Centauri in an instant because of time dilation or time slowing down for astronauts on board the spacecraft? Thanks!

| You cannot move at the speed of light, only at 0.999..999c. And you may reach that velocity only after some acceleration. Acceleration at 1 "G" to 0.9c may take a year or two. So no, you cannot reach Alpha Centauri immediately using known physics.

| I think he means if he COULD move at the speed of light what would he perceive. I guess the idea is as you get closer to the speed of light time slows down but from your perception its a normal rate so hypothetically if it were even possible the trip would be instant from your perspective but to everyone else on Earth it would have taken you a little over 4 years.
Still its as SpaceEngineer says you can never reach the speed of light.

| Space Engineer, do you have any personal theories as to how we can defeat the problem of light speed?
Do you think it's possible? Perhaps by getting around the problem using "wormholes" of some sort. There are still many things we can attempt, for example heating up a certain point in space to incredible levels with lasers in hopes of tearing a hole in space creating a worm hole. Or perhaps it's just impossible. What do you think?
