| I've been thinking lately that although culturally diverse, having multiple languages is extremely inefficient. Weather it be an adaptation of a current language the mixing of similar languages or a completely new language the idea is still fun to think about. Who knows, we ourselves could make a little language for this forum  (I highly doubt it though).

But as for adaptation/mixing languages, it's been thought of and done a few times, for instance esperanto or interlingua.

I'm not saying for use on a grand scale, more as an experimental thing because I would assume to make a language is to completely understand the idea of what language is.

I know languages have changed. If someone spoke old English to a modern English speaker today, the modern speaker would hardly understand it. What I'm trying to make a point of is this new digital age. For instance if it weren't for the internet I would probably would have never communicated with you in my life. In Michael Chrichton's the Lost World, Ian Malcom states that the more people who are in a group the less cultural change will happen (paraphrasing). This means either the adoption, adaptation or creation of a new language.

That has nothing to do with languages like Esperanto and Interlingua, which are constructed languages, not naturally evolved, but (unlike some other constructed languages) they borrow vocabulary, syntax and grammar from widespread natural languages to ease the learning. For instance, Interlingua is easily understood by anyone speaking a romance language. I suppose these languages can be seen as attempts to unify/reduce cultural differences.

Alright, I had never heard of those languages. I will defiantly look into them and a learn some more. The English thing was more of an example for how languages can evolve.
