Space Engineer is so PROPHETIC. The .97 release had given the new Plutonian moons their official names weeks BEFORE the IAU made it official.

No. He got those names from the result of a popular poll, which is what the IAU used to base its names on as well.

And, you'll notice, SpaceEngineer got one of the names wrong.

Quote (SpaceEngineer)
New Pluto's moons P4 and P5 will have names Vulcan and Kerberos

Quote (HarbingerDawn)
They MIGHT have those names. It depends on what the IAU says.

Quote (SpaceEngineer)
They now named Kerberos and Styx

So, not prophetic. Just premature.

A nice size-comparison of objects in the Pluto-Charon system, represented by moons of Saturn.

Observation phase begins February 2015, and resolution exceeds Hubble capabilities in May, flyby on July 14. I've waited such a long time for this mission, I'm really excited to see the images and science results. smile

Excuse me, but you just erased the content of two of my posts. Your rules state nothing about what you percieve to be swear words. I just read them! Secondly, I will not participate in a forum that censors its users with personal feelings of morality. Your idea of profane differs from other people. If you are truly concerned about language suitable for children, then program a filter instead of blocking words that convey an idea to post. I have been on this board for two years and this is the first time I have run up against this.

Political correctness has no place on the internet!

I regret there are quite a few flaws in your argument that will need to be pointed out here. This is not a matter of "political correctness", "personal feelings", nor "my" rules.

I can cite numerous precedents of users being told just as sternly not to use profanity on this forum, by moderators other than myself, and the forum rules very clearly speak for themselves. The use of profanity is not permitted here. I did not write the rules, nor do I enforce them out of some perceived notion of moral superiority. The rules were worked out and agreed upon by many people who manage the forum, and as a moderator it is my role to ensure that they are followed. You are expected to consent to these rules and to moderator requests.

If you have remaining concerns with this, you are welcome to discuss it with another moderator via PM. There will be no need to continue to try to argue about it with me here.

Considering you can fully edit posts for content....we really can't know that can we?

I will PM Space Engineer about the tendancy of Americans to censor their site.

That I would be editing posts, including those of other moderators, for the purposes of producing a lie, is a pretty severe accusation.

I very well remember making that post myself, and it has certainly not been edited by anyone else, nor myself, since then. If you think that the entire administration of this website is working together just to conspire against you specifically, then you've slipped off your rocker, fallen off the porch, and rolled down a hill.

I have been on this board for two years

And in that time you have consistently demonstrated judgmental, dogmatic, and blindly confrontational behavior, and have made a habit of aggressively generalizing and making little effort to understand what other people are saying. As you've probably noticed, people on this forum will tend to take a dim view of that sort of thing. If you can't bring yourself to have calm, reasonable, rational, and respectful discussions with others, while making an honest effort to understand them, then you should probably refrain from posting here since you'd only be wasting your time and everyone else's.

I will PM Space Engineer about the tendancy of Americans to censor their site.

Messaging SpaceEngineer or accusing moderators, doesn't get you anywhere. This has nothing to do with Americans or their tendencies, nor about some moderator(s) wanting to blame you for no reason.
You need to respect the rules that have been put in place by the administrators of the site, or you won't get to post anymore. It's as simple as that.

New Horizons Detects Surface Features, Possible Polar Cap on Pluto

Image resolution is now beginning to rival Hubble capabilities, and check out those awesome videos of the Pluto-Charon orbital motion above. There are some high-albedo regions visible near Pluto's pole, possibly made of nitrogen ice!

74 days until flyby. cool

Added:
Put together plots of the apparent angular size of Pluto as seen from New Horizons, as a function of time remaining until closest approach on July 14. It's amazing how in an interplanetary journey lasting many years, the destination grows from a dot to a veritable world in just the last moments. Right now Pluto is a mere 0.0015° (5.5 arcseconds) across, but will grow to several degrees wide at flyby.
