| Just came across an article that describes an interesting scenario for making "exotic" planetary environments. A star that rotates at high speed has a distinctive pattern of a low-temperature equatorial zone and high-temperature polar zones. A planet orbiting such a star in an inclined orbit will be alternately exposed to the cool equator and the hot poles twice each revolution, leading to a significant change in the radiation it receives. Not just amount but frequency too - the hot poles emit significantly more UV light than the equator.
Here's a link. Likely a long-term thing to consider for Space Engine, since both fast-rotating stars and inclined planets are rare so the combination will be quite rare indeed. But such exotic rarities will be part of the joy of long-term exploration so nice to think about.
