| Mission success!!! The second stage reignited properly and placed the payload into its proper supersynchronous transfer orbit! This successful completion of a GEO transfer mission should give SpaceX a serious credibility boost.

According to some second or third-hand eyewitness reports, despite it not being planned publicly, the first stage was re-ignited after separation, and made a partial controlled descent before the engine shut down again.
I thought something was happening with it when I saw those thruster jets (those magnificent thruster jets) firing off.
Sketchy info, I know. Cool to think about, though. Supposedly they promised SES that all the fuel on board would be used in boosting the satellite, and so didn't schedule a re-ignition test.

Even if they burned to depletion before staging, they could still have fired the ACS just to test that portion of the reentry sequence.

| Launch of the Falcon 9 carrying the Thaicom-6 satellite is set for today at 22:06 UTC, with webcast coverage beginning here at 21:26 UTC.
This will be SpaceX's second GEO transfer mission, and the final mission without plans to conduct a controlled descent of the first stage. Most, if not all, future Falcon flights will conduct controlled descent and landing of the first stage.
