| dontpanic, there are a few things that can greatly improve your Orbiter experience. There are texture packs that you can download for the planets, there are other graphics tweaks that you can do, and there are even community developed graphics clients (the most prevalent being the Direct3D 9 client) that enable Orbiter to look more like a modern game. It still doesn't stand up to SpaceEngine, but it is acceptable looking, at least to me.
I've lost most of my best screenshots, but here are a few I managed to dig up in my hard drive: http://www.deviantart.com/downloa....ruj.jpg http://www.deviantart.com/downloa....rw5.jpg http://www.deviantart.com/downloa....ryc.png http://www.deviantart.com/downloa....s1t.png

| Quote (dontpanic) What will be so mind blowing about it? It will be just the same, but with better graphics. I think that NEW features make game play "mind blowing". Things like: realistic and detailed ships with interior, ability to explore planets in land vehicles, having animals and aliens on terras with life, buildings, perhaps even combat. You are right, Space Engine has a LOT of potential, and the features you describe should be implemented (although they should be optional), but I doubt they will be "mind blowing"...
Orbiter is the only space sim that gave me so much feeling of accomplishment. From docking procedures, getting to low earth orbit, reentry, each step is a challenge. You should seriously give it a try. I'd pay $60 for Space Engine if I could get all features that are already available in Orbiter. You heard that Vladimir?, you've got my money

| HarbingerDawn, nice screens! I liked the one with the astronaut and the futuristic shuttle(?). Still, I'd rather wait for SE to get those features. (I don't have the time to start playing a new game anyway, because I'm enlisting in the army in 9 days...)

| This pack has too many textures, SE cannot display all of the models at once (cache for ships textures is not implemented yet)...

| Nice video, I just think you shouldn't have made it unlisted, to promote SE more. P.S. Thank's for mentioning me.

Well I though about that, but the video gets distorted with artifacts at the end because of windows live movie maker conversion of the initial avi to wmv. When I manage to produce a better video, I will definitely make it public .

| Any chance this is being updated to .97? The images look sweet, and I'm a huge fan of EVE so this is a must

No offense, but you're replying to a topic that hasn't been replied to for almost a year. I highly doubt it will be updated soon.

None taken, but his other shipset appears has been updated to .97, so maybe with a little interest this can be too. I just checked his other set and it appears he enlisted in the army, so I don't know. I am not sure how to convert the files, I thought I read it isn't that difficult but I could be wrong.

It says in this thread here :http://en.spaceengine.org/forum/17-1566-1 that his Mass effect mod is for .97. So either someone accidently added that to the list or he only updated the mass effect. Not really sure. As previously stated I'm new so I'm still really struggling to figure out the differences for addons between the two most recent SE versions.

| I think it's on the list accidentally. His ship packs can theoretically be adapted to 0.97 but it would take a lot of work for the end user to do.
