Update: Now, some outdated. Since the post of this thread the HD official textures have been improved a lot.
Hi all, some time ago looking in the JPL images archive i found a lot of better Saturn moons textures and adapted them to Celestia. But as Celestia seems to be abandoned I decided to adapt them for Space Engine. I only did little modifications to them as for example replacing low resolution areas with monochrome maps but adapting the colors.

| With Voekoevaka's bump map Rhea this new map looks absolutely gorgeous.
Mimas also looks good (I've increased the bump height for a more realistic look)
The specular reflection bothered me alot, great getting rid of it
Love Space Engine!

| Fireinthehole, you ninja'd me. I was wondering if we could use Voekoevaka's bump maps. Are the downloads for them still active from Voekoevaka's thread?. Yes they are!

| New Tethys texture with a lot of better resolution. The old one was a 4k res image and this new one is 11k, remember to reduce the exposure in the new one to 2 because I increased its brightness and contrast. Try it out and enjoy . Added (07.02.2014, 18:35) --------------------------------------------- New updates:
-New dione 23k hi-res texture, the best I could found, I just added some minor modifications on it, check the instalation text file for details. Download link in the first post.
Dione 23k Screenshot
-All textures are in jpg format so they are now a lot of smaller.
I dont expect to do any major updates.

| Quote cirax ( ) All textures are in jpg format so they are now a lot of smaller Would it be possible to have jpg's as a separate optional download? They reduce quality while not reducing memory use, so they only save on disk space. For those who have enough space or enough download bandwidth, png would be preferable.

| All original cylindrical textures i used where in fact in jpg format, so there is little sense putting them to png as its quality wont be better after being transformed with cubemap . I already check the textures in SE and i didnt find any quality loss. Try to download them and check it yourself. Anyway i dont have any problem to put them in png format option if you insist.

| Quote cirax ( ) so there is little sense putting them to png as its quality wont be better after being transformed with cubemap JPG has compression loss with each time it's saved, so even if it started as jpg it will be degraded further when resaved as jpg. But it's not really a big deal I guess, it would just be nice to have both options.

| Dont worry, I transformed the originals to raw and then to cubemap, but when i have to edit them between compressions i always did it in png format. I mean I never resaved in jpg when editing, if i have to, and when i did it was in png.
