| Nice! Just tried this out with a whole system and putting the maps into the folders was less tedious than my initial expectations, this is quite workable until SE itself exports things more conveniently.
I did, however, notice two issues worth mention.
* Image options weren't offered at all for dwarf planets (though in one case there was a dwarf planet that had a moon, so I was able to put a map on the moon but not its parent - an odd result). The map image option was offered for gas giants, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense - gas giants have no fixed surface features, and the diffuse texture doesn't look like the planet does from orbit anyway without the cloud layers. Would be nice to omit maps for gas giants and add them for dwarf planets.
* I wanted to use the "misc" image slot for an elevation map, which is exported as surface_bump.png, but I'd have to convert that to m.jpg every time. Would it be possible to add a field for the misc image's filename so I could tell it to use surface_bump.png? This is slightly less important for the from-orbit image slot, since the game converts screenshots to jpeg anyway so it only needs to be renamed rather than recompressed into a new format.
Both pretty minor issues, thanks for taking up this task.

| Would you post a example of a problem system, FaceDeer?

| I used RS 0-7-1835270-1788-28-7-150925-55 as my test case. In particular, RS 0-7-1835270-1788-28-7-150925-55 6 is a dwarf planet and RS 0-7-1835270-1788-28-7-150925-55 6.1 is its moon; when I generated the system report there was an option to add images to 6.1 but not to 6. The innermost planet, RS 0-7-1835270-1788-28-7-150925-55 1, is also a dwarf planet and didn't get image options.
The "gas giant diffuse maps don't look like the gas giant, and are pointless even if they did" thing can be seen with just about any gas giant. RS 0-7-1835270-1788-28-7-150925-55 3 is an example.

| I've fixed the dwarf planets and added the ability to choose what file name the misc picture is.

| Fantastic, that appears to cover all of the functionality I need, thanks! The only remaining issue I've noticed is a minor matter of UI polish. If you resize the picture dialog the "Misc Picture File Name" field and its associated label remain in the same place - they're not attached to the footer of the window, they're fixed in absolute place. That doesn't get in the way of actually using this, though.

| Compatibility info: Aside from its occasional, expected crashes, works with every version up to 0.97.3. 0.97.4 does not, so... Also I think SE has fixed its weird tempstuff.
Sorry for sorta-necro: I'm pretty sure if it adds useful information (like this posts) it's okay.
Tips for finding Earth-Like planets: Look for F, G, or K Class stars. M class habitables will almost always be tidelocked. Oceanias can, of course, also be habitable, they just have tiny amounts of land.

| I would absolutely love if this mod was continued. It made such a wonderful addition to SpaceEngine.

| It crashes on about half the systems I try, on 0.9.7.3.
Attached is a screenshot of the cmd.
