I will begin working on this (major) update now, and it will include higher resolution textures and possibly even bumpmaps (if I can find any). I did find a person who made a HD revamped version of the vanilla planet textures (link), and it apparantly includes normal maps, does anyone know if it is possible to make normalmaps work in SE? I might even use his other revamped textures for this addon as well, but I'm unsure of that. I've seen kerbalmaps.com now provides "slope" maps, does anyone know if these would be usable as bumpmaps? They look like this.
I may also include a night-light map for Kerbin (and possibly other planets) as an optional download as well.
Added (27.03.2015, 16:55) --------------------------------------------- EDIT: Just found out that if you desaturate the color relief maps provided on Kerbalmaps.com, it looks like something that could be used as a bumpmap! Example
The new addon, however, will significantly increase the filesize of the addon, and it may become well over 2 GB in total size (when decompressed).
I will be inactive on this forum for the time being. Might come back eventually
I just tried to use a grayscale version of the colourrelief map as a bump map for Minmus, and the result (while not perfect and buggy up close), is an improvement from Minmun's earlier appearance
The Kerbol Barycenter displays ERROR and I can't find the planets on the F3 screen.
Did you install all the files properly? Remember to add the proper lines in your universe.cfg file. Check if everything is installed properly, and maybe post your se.log too.
Your addons also works to 9.7.3. As against the clouds, must be added to the SE end of the name of the cloud file (and bump must also be replaced because it no longer exists this file).
I put my clouds of my textures pack of game KSP, it works well apart Duna and Laythe, I mean basically they are displayed but the surface disappears, you see across the planet.
Wow amazing! You have really made progress with everything and the city lights and the bump maps! Might i suggest making Eve have a really thick (almost venus like) cloud layer? Not a big fan of Minmus though...it looks ugly and unrealistic. But this mod is awesome its like a cross over of the two big space games!

I still haven't figured out how to properly work with bump maps so it's a work-in-progress.
Thanks to all for reminding me I still had this project, apologies for not working on it for a long time, but I hope I can finish and release it this summer.
Added (26.07.2015, 07:16) --------------------------------------------- It's finally here! The latest update for my addon is now downloadable, check the readme for more information!
Please report any issues you find in the addon in this thread and they will be fixed soon!

I love this mod and coincidentally at the time that I tested, an eclipse on Kerbin.
In fact, there is some bump Minus as they are not really correct, as you can see: And the oceans are not "rigged" pile at the proper depth, if you want, here is my fix (I put just what a added or replaced, not the entire code) :
Code
//For Eve : Surface { BumpOffset 7.504107 }
Ocean { Height 7.504107 }
//For Kerbin : Surface { BumpOffset 4.672552 }
Ocean { Height 4.672552 }
//For Laythe : Surface { BumpOffset 3.348359 }
Ocean { Height 3.348359 }
I'm on SE 0.9.7.4 patch 7.
In fact, it works system wide after, it depends on what you put in class Kerbol. Otherwise, keep it, maybe one day you'll integrate all the game in SE ^^.
Edit
Some screenshots (that can make you want to download this mod for those who do not) : View of Laythe :
