| (DoctorOfSpace) Plus it always seems so silly. Roleplaying is not silly. This SE exploration game, at least as I understand the vision for it so far, would be rather dull if you didn't roleplay somewhat. Roleplaying is a great way to bring significance to acts that have no innate significance. You have to make it personal, and have to invent consequences beyond the confines of the impact on gameplay. Otherwise you're just playing statistics with a pretty interface.

| (DoctorOfSpace) Sounds to me like thats how it should be. I suppose that would be quite sufficient for an emotionless robot. The rest of us humans, however, would prefer something more substantial.

| Even Spock knew that an existence of pure logic, devoid of all emotion, was insufficient.

| Did you just call Doctorofspace an emotionless robot? That's funny. Not because I think he is, it's just funny.

| (Disasterpiece) Did you just call Doctorofspace an emotionless robot? No. I described the sort of being that would agree with his opinion on that matter. You may, however, laugh anyway, I certainly can't stop you.

| I like roleplaying games. I think SE would be great for that.

| No, because you don't like or dislike anything, you just react to numbers and rythms.

| (Tim) No, because you don't like or dislike anything, you just react to numbers and rythms.
But don't we all? Are all our reactions governed not by chemical processes within the brain that react to stimuli? Is not the amount of neurotransmitters but numbers between the synapses? The rhythms of firing neurons what govern our every action?
But sir that very notion would make us all machines with the illusion of emotional impact from our everyday interactions be they the real world or in a video game.

| That is like saying that nothing as we identify it really exists because it is all composed of elementary particles and governed by fundamental forces so we're all just a bunch of physics equations. While that may be true, it is a completely useless way to look at the vast majority of situations that you will encounter.

| Well, then, those physics determined that we may prefer to roleplay a bit and get all emotional over losing a ship, than to look at the physics directly. Why would you even play a game if not for the emotional good feeling?

| When there are procedural cities, will it procedurally generate population numbers? Also, if anyone has every played pioneer could there be a similar autopilot?
Edit: Doctorofspace could be a humanoid cylon.
