The only real problem would be the conversion of the stars coordinates(RA - Dec) into Cartesian Coordinates.

You could use the debug mode and get the actual 3D coordinates in space using the internal coordinate system of SE. It's way more precise than is necessary so many of the digits could be ignored.

I found this, it's a list of stars near Earth, a few have life, all are within 10 parsecs. I'll take pictures of them later.
