Frostbreath, you are a noble creature!

I know the joy of engaging kids with this program, my nieces and nephews absolutely adore it!

One, in particular, soaks up anything astronomical like a sponge!

It's so fantastic when they get so into it, that the narrative becomes theirs -

"Let's find the biggest star!"

"How much bigger than the sun is this one?"

"Look at how lumpy it is!"

"Let's find a star in a nebula with lots of planets!"

If I could go around to primary schools, doing just that, I think I might be a happy man.

You must be an epic uncle! biggrin

I may have annoyed my teachers quite a bit during them by being a smartass

Heh. I encourage kids being smartass from time to time. I admire their knowledge sometimes. It's great to see they already know so much about a subject. A smartkid is fine with me, until it gets annoying. :P

Thanks so much for the appreciation guys. It's truly, um, appreciated! biggrin

I added Day 6 of my diary to the OP, along with the first results of the lesson of Day 2! Enjoy!

It's good you're doing this. Im 13 and when i told my friend that sun is a star, he said it's too big. When i told him that stars are suns that are just far from us, he said that they dont give us light, so they are not stars.

Did you cave his head in? Because that is the only reasonable response to that.

The only reasonable response is to fire up Space Engine, and watch his head cave itself in.

I did that to a friend of mine. His entire world view changed and now he suffers from depression.

Though I am not sure that is a success story.

One of the children told me last week that he originally thought space was a boring subject. He said the project changed his view and now he thinks it's awesome.

Kids sure are funny. :P
