| Quote (SpaceEngineer) axial tilt by definition is an angle between polar axis and axis of the orbit The Earth's orbit in SE is around the Earth-Moon barycenter. The inclination of the Earth-Moon system to the ecliptic is about 5°, which would perfectly account for the apparent error.

Yep, you're right. Bug is fixed now. Also, such bug was in the exporting of the planetary system script.

| When will we see animated stars (Example: the red giants loose layers bubbling around the surface)?
I was wrong, this forum still has a horrible community.

| Space Engine's Earth texture sure is amazing, I can't take my eyes off it whenever I'm close to it. But it doesn't show the polar ice (i.e. only land masses) and the cloud texture doesn't cover the polar areas. Are there any plans on improving the texture of Earth?
Love Space Engine!

| Quote (Fireinthehole) Is there any plans on improving the texture of Earth? You'll have to ask NASA about that, they made the map. Also, showing polar ice makes little sense since sea ice is not a fixed feature, and changes with the seasons and looks different every year. In a few decades the north pole will probably look like it does in SE now, at least around September. The map only shows features on land masses since those are much more consistent, and there are probably other problems associated with them trying to include oceanic features. You'll have to do some research and read more about the map, but the bottom line is that there's nothing anyone here can do about fixing it.

I have seen cloud maps covering the whole Earth.

| If you can find a better cloud map than what SE has now, please post a link to it and I'll try to get it into SE.

Maybe this, or this, but perhaps they are in too low resulotion?

One guy from a Russian forum already works on it. His maps may be released as addon or included in the next patch.

| About how far back in time would the SpaceEngine's orbital mechanics be accurate? If I went back to say, 9600 BC, 52000 BC, 70000 BC, or even 150000 BC and added a certain undiscovered planet with theoretical orbital parameters, would it show up in accurate locations in relation Earth at these specific times(accurate in relation to where I originally put it)?
Also, does SpaceEngine calculate change in orbital eccentricity over time?

| Space Engine currently uses static elliptical orbits, rather than a dynamic or perturbation model. In reality the planetary orbits change due to them tugging on one another. So all bets on accurate positions of planets/moons are off if you go that far in the past or future.
For the same reason you also won't see eclipses at the proper times/locations, because the moon's orbit is much more complex than a simple static ellipse.
