Anyway, now seriously: I've been noticing some stars have sunspots and others don't, and our Sun is part of the group that misses them. This is kind of odd, considering they were discovered on the Sun in the first place; shouldn't it have sunspots?

Strange though, since I know that in previous versions our sun did have sunspots. Maybe this texture is for during a Solar minimum

I don't know why you can't see sunspots. You should attach your se.log file to your reply so we can look for any problems.
Not all stars in SpaceEngine have sunspots, so there might not be anything wrong.

Yes, in this version Sol does not have sunspots. A thread about it already exists here: http://en.spaceengine.org/forum/11-1064-1
