Tiny Giant?

I was doing some testing on a Milky Way galaxy model I am working on (so the RS numbers here will be useless to the community) and I found some bizarre objects. I would submit these as bug reports but I know that they're already known issues smile So instead I'll post them here for your enjoyment.

First a Terra that goes from Calid to Frozen over the course of its orbit (but spends most of its time as Frozen). I don't think that water could be liquid at -185°C smile

Frozen, far away from its sun for most of its orbit

In close to its sun for a short time

It has a very eccentric orbit

I also found a G III, or yellow giant star, that was barely 1/6 the size of Sol, and had as little luminosity as a red dwarf! surprised The larger star is a K1V orange dwarf. The "giant" was in fact dwarfed by its "dwarf" companion!

Regarding the star you found... I also found something like this (and posted it!). Maybe these are more common than one might think... It will probably be fixed by .96 so we should enjoy them while they last. smile

Ah yes, I remember seeing that post. That's why I didn't file this as a bug report.
It is interesting to find these oddities, but I personally won't miss them when they're gone smile The closer SpaceEngine and other simulations get to rendering a truly realistic universe, the more fascinating they become.
When procedural galaxy generation is implemented in SE, and especially spacecraft flight and 3D clouds, then I think I might sit on my computer all day and never leave home happy

Haha , same here ! smile
I read somewhere that 3D clouds should be for 0.97 release, but procedural galaxy/nebula generation will be a huge step! and realistic spacescraft.. SE will have a whole new level.. That's gonna be great ! cool
Ps: And when i read the todolist, i'm dreaming..

I'm more concerned about more realistic cloud patterns than whether they are 3D or not... (both being important) Notice the sharpness of Earth's cloud texture- compare it to a procedural terra's clouds and you'll see what I'm talking about.

I really don't mind about 3D clouds cool ... Procedural Galaxies and Spacecraft physiccs will surely keep me occupied for a veeeryy very long time wink biggrin

I see what you're talking about. But the reason I'm excited for 3D clouds is immersion. Being able to pilot a spacecraft to a far away planet and then fly down with a shuttle through the clouds would make for a very immersive experience.

I decided to take a dip into the atmosphere of a gas giant, and I liked what I saw (didn't snap a pic tho tongue ). I can't wait till 3D clouds so such views can be more realistic! happy Many other space sims don't let you enter one, and the ones that do just look like landing on a glorified marble. Another reason this engine is EPIC!!

Careful. The PLATT Collective has spurs.
