| ^Oh man, looks just like a monolith. XD Especially like they're described in 2061: Odyssey Three as half-buried in the Europan soil. Maybe it's one of the other systems that got visited by them?

| neutronium76, when I saw that first picture, I thought that it was a genuine photograph. I stared at it and I thought to myself "there is no way that is in SpaceEngine". Then I looked at the ones below it and realized that it was. That blew me away
That nebula looks really neat too, nice pics Are you using the Rodrigo's modified shaders, and if so have you made any changes to them?

When I captured that 1st photo I was trying to convince myself that this was a sim and not the real thing . At that time the sun was setting where I live so I could compare it with the real thing in real time and believe me: There was definetly a difference in favor of the real sun but it was not that big. The aliasing effect on the outline circle of the simulated sun created this "fake" heat blur effect that we are all familiar with .

Yes I am using Rodrigo's modified shaders and no I haven't made any changes to them. In fact I wanted to revert back to the original ones but because I don't know which files I substituted with Rodrigo's new shaders, the only way to do it is to overwrite the whole spacengine folder but then I will loose my saved places and all other changes I have made. Anyway I quite like them so I might stay with them .

| Quote (neutronium76) Anyway I quite like them so I might stay with them They definitely make nebulae look much better than the default shaders because of the absorption sprites. Before Rodrigo posted his changes to the forum I had been looking into how to achieve that effect on my own. I had asked SpaceEngineer about it but there wasn't any setting or model that could be changed to do it. I had never thought about modifying the shaders. Then Rodrigo came along with his work on it and it was exactly what I had wanted! I don't think that the nebulae could look any better in this version of SpaceEngine than they do with his shaders
If you wanted to replace them though you could always go find the original download file for his shaders, see which files are in there, and then replace those files in your SE installation with "clean" ones from a new SE download.

Why don't you back up the Config and Catalog folders and use them on a fresh install? This way you won't loose any changes you may have done.

| ACtually I may try and modify them a bit. Just a bit though in order to get that blue tint from the original ones but only if it is possible to maintain the remaining colors and the black sprites as they are now. Otherwise they are definetly better than the default ones.

| Woow neutronium76 ! ! your 1rst shot is really gorgeous .. it's like a photography ! really cool. Is it a planet who transit that we can see in the sun? And thanks for posting the nebula pics , I tried to make the Rodrigo's file work and I wasn't sure I had done the good install, and thanks to you now I know I was wrong ( i had forgotten to delete the shader's cache...) , and now I have same nebulae as you. The Rodrigo's modifications are great, not perfect, but they sure are better than the originals, much more volume/density/shadow . I particulary loved the planetary nebula ( brown /green inside), truly the best nebula simulation I ever experienced.. I wonder if there is a way to have both nebula models at the same time(the default and the rodrigo's one)?..
Panoramic test : (I like how it is around the star, like if the heat had pushed the dust )

No. It's an artifact.

AFAIK it is not. Rodrigo's modification affect the diffuse type nebulas. I am currently in the process of trying to achieve a better blend of the originals and Rodrigo's at the same time. Yesterday I was tweaking the values in the model/nebula/model.cfg file. I fall asleep in front of my PC and still haven't managed to achieve the desired result. All I want to achieve is the blue tint from the original diffuse type nebulas together with a gold/yellowish/red tint and of course to maintain the dark sprites. But it seems not an easy task
Very nice pics solaris by the way
