| First of all, this is NOT a challenge thread. It is just to tell the story of a challenge I created for myself, and the interesting results I achieved. Anyone who wants to try it as well is welcome to do so, and post the results!
The story: A small interstellar shuttle has been stolen from the mothership by rebel crew members, with many crates of supplies and parts important for the mothership. We only found out a few hours after the incident. It is imperative that we catch up and intercept the stolen ship. It has limited warp capabilities (factor 6) and should take many days to reach the nearest star, so waiting for them there is not an option, since we'll run out of supplies before they reach their destination (which we're not sure of anyway).
The challenge: put a small ship on a warp course to a nearby star (must take days to reach it) at a warp factor of 6, wait some hours (at accelerated time, of course), and then take control of a big ship at the starting location, and try to intercept it. I considered the interception successfull when the whole warp bubble of the small ship was inside the warp bubble of the big ship. The big ship I used was A LOT bigger than the other, so maybe that made it a bit easier.
Let me tell you something: it is HARD!!! One of the challenges is matching the speed. It's no use matching the physical relative velocity, because the warp factor won't be matched (for me, from 5.8 it jumped to 6.14, so it was never exactly 6). So, you have to manually match the effective speed when you're close enough, and this is a very big challenge, since a very small tap on the key can make a big difference. Another challenge is matching the direction. Since you're on an intercept course, you won't be travelling in the same direction, and this adds a whole other level of difficulty. I didn't think of this before I tried, so if you're willing to try it too, I suggest you go to the same target as the small ship before attempting the intercept course, so you only have to worry about the speed, and not the direction.

Notice how the small warp bubble is inside the big one! In the "real world", I'm not sure how that would work, because the big ship would actually increase the warp effects of the small ship, so maybe the small ship would actually go faster and escape, making an interception impossible? It's an interesting physics problem!
Anyway, I'll try docking next, not sure it's even possible, but let's see what happens! B)
EDIT: I forgot to mention: the ships I used are Atlantis and a Puddle Jumper, from the Stargate show. They're a work in progress, and if I ever get the permission form the creator of the models, I will share them

Depends on the strength of the two warp fields and the point of entry. You would probably have to constantly have the field adjusted to make up for the expanded/contracted region on entry to stabilize your effective velocity. In reality though combining two warp fields would probably lead to an uneven distribution in the required negative energy and the field would just collapse.
