Looking for candidates for most distant star(RS whatever) or at least most distant galaxy (RG whatever) from Sol and Milky Way. Preferably version 0.972.

Just a detail: So far I found a system roughly 24 billion light years (~7.5 Gigaparsex) out.

The Space Engine universe is generated in a cube. Just go to one of the corners, pick the tipmost galaxy, and go to some star on the furthest edge. cool

Careful. The PLATT Collective has spurs.

It also helps to increase the "overbright" value. This lets SE render dimmer objects you won't normally see. This makes it much easier to see the edges and corners of the cube. Just make sure you decrease it before zooming into a galaxy unless you want to melt your computer.

Then you might think that the Milky Way is at the center of the cube

the universe is made to be explored, but no one will ever visit it all

^ Indeed, I have found myself that A: the Milky Way is not actually in the center of the universe for some reason, and B: galaxies at some cube corners are closer to the actual corner than others.
I haven't gone through all eight and tracked down which is the most distant though.

Apparently, the best contenders so far, for most distant galaxy (in SpaceEngine 0.972) include:
RG 0-9-115043766-1088 (E1) and
RG 0-8-16777215-2144 (SBc).
Both are approximately 8.6659 giga-parzecs (or 28.242 giga-lightyears) distant.

As an aside, this is (more or less) DOUBLE the distance to the most distantly obzerved objects in the real universe.

tough call on more distant, the once we see at 13.7 billion Ly are as they were 13.7 years ago. I am no scientist, but if space is expanding or has expanded faster than light at some point it will most definitely be farther by now.

^ True, which is why it's good that SE simulates a universe more than 13.7 billion light-years in radius wink

Sol should be at the exact center of the universe.

That reminds me of the old geocentric solar system model for some reason...

Living among the stars, I find my way. I grow in strength through knowledge of the space I occupy, until I become the ruler of my own interstellar empire of sorts. Though The world was made for the day, I was made for the night, and thus, the universe itself is within my destiny.

We only have one vantage point to scan the sky and that vantage point gives us the illusion of being at the center of the universe.

4 minutes into this video explains it

DoctorOfSpace, I understand the concept and have for years, but the idea of placing Sol at the exact center of the universe just bugs me a bit, as if we were returning to that model somehow, but I understand why Space Engine was made like that, as indeed we do appear to be in the center due to the Universe's expansion.
