LF Moon with a sky blue atmo. orbiting a sky blue ice giant

Was hoping to relax on a moon with an earth like atmosphere orbiting a large planet that matches the sky's colour.

Sadly I couldn't find one, anyone got co-ords for one they found.

Preference: not tidally locked.

You almost certainly won't find one that's not tidally locked. But you could easily just create your own system with everything you desire in it.

Well, I found a Temperate terra not tidally locked with life orbiting a selena in version 0.97. The temperate terra isn't what i'd call "Earth-Like".

With a green house effect of 84.522K and an atmospheric pressure of 102.76 atmospheres I'd say it's barely habitable.

Iapetus is not tidally locked to Saturn, so it wouldn't be impossible for gas giant moons not being tidally locked. Iapetus is a bit too far away.

Actually, I think Iapetus is tidally locked. All internet sources I've found say it is, and more importantly I've seen it with my own eyes: Iapetus is brighter on one side of its orbit, and it's always the same side.

The only one I can think of that isn't is Hyperion, and that's an unusual case. It was probably blasted into a chaotic rotation pattern by a large impact or some other catastrophic event. Obviously this is very atypical.

Guys, remember that in SE you can also come across pretty young systems. Tidal locking is a mechanism that needs time, so in young systems it's totally possible to come across non tidally locked moons.

But young moons are unlikely to have had time to become "Earth-like".

It depends on the circumstances. In many cases you will have objects which become tidally locked pretty much immediately. And as Destructor1701 said, any moon that was young enough to not be locked would not be anything like Earth.

Or it would be much more like Earth than evolved moons. A moon small enough to be a barren airless world in its maturity could have an atmosphere when young, for instance. An atmosphere in the right temperature range would mean a hydrological cycle. And that may be enough to at least make it look earth-like.

Tidal locking is a function of torque, generated by differences in the gravitational forces applied to the orbiting body's closest and most distant parts. How fast it's generated, therefore, depends on the moon's distance to its primary (or, in general, on how strong the delta G is, which is also a funcion of the primary's mass), on how different its original rotation period is to its orbital period and on its mass. It may be fast, but it may also take a long, long time. Plus: the end result is not always tidal locking -- simetimes it's just resonance.

Which is to say that for SE to mimic reality it should have at least a few Earth lookalike moons not locked to their primaries -- especially relatively young moons at some distance to their primaries, which should also not be very massive. Or old moons in somewhat eccentric orbits showing resonant rotation.

The vast majority? Yeah, it should be tidally locked.
