Hello , i recently watched a documentary talking about space and wandering planets ( planets that dont orbit a star roaming free of gravity to an uncertain route) Does SE include theese types of planets ? If not i think it could be a good idea

No, i'm sorry biggrin , unfortunately there is a glitch in shaders, because if a planet get too far away from the star (or stars), it become invisible, so i think it wouldn't be possible for now smile

The universe is not required to be in perfect harmony with human ambition.

CPU: Intel Core i7 4770 GPU: ASUS Radeon R9 270 RAM: 8 GBs

(still don't know why everyone is doing this...)

They wouldn't be very interesting objects to have in the engine, there isn't enough light in interstellar space to see by most of the time, and these woulds would be impossible to find outside of the map mode. So they would basically look like black holes, minus the spacetime distortion effect.

There is no glitch in the shaders, SE is simply not designed to generate and render planetary systems without a central star.

Very good idea ! I was thinking about the same thing (in the Space Engine Planet Classification topic), and I miss a bit the rogue planets.

I wonder if, heated by tidal forces, a moon of one of these planets can harbor life...

They can't be as black as black holes... There is stars out there that illuminate them a little bit.

Yes, but like I said, it would not be enough to really see by, especially when rendering in a computer program (I meant that it would appear black if rendered realistically in SE). You cannot reproduce the subtleties that the eye can pick up. The combined light of the stars and the Milky Way would be enough to illuminate it to where it was barely visible, assuming that you have good vision and eyes that are perfectly dark adapted. But it would be very very dark.

At the galactic edge, yes. But I imagine the wandering planets of the galactic center brighter, especially these near to a quasar (hopeful to see them in SE).

True, these would be brighter. But first SE needs to have some kind of ambient lighting in interstellar space based on distance to galactic core, lighting from nearby stars, and rendering objects in interstellar space implemented.

When I downloaded 9.7.4 RC3 the additions and changes mentioned wandering planets.

wandering planets.

Not wandering. Rogue planets. Planets without a sun. So-called planemos.

Don't forget to look here.

What's the difference? When I looked it up on Wikipedia it redirected me to Rogue Planets.
