I was just thinking this very same thing yesterday smile This should definitely be implemented someday.

SE is a scientifically accurate Universe simulator, then one day it will implement ALL space objects and phenomenon that are known to modern astronomy. So you may not bother yourself with questions like "will SE one day have meteor rain implemented". I guarantee that it WILL.

From here smile

NICE. Wow...
That made me fully realize the potential of SpaceEngine as a finished product.

Will the tails of the comet dissepear when they get far out enough? And these comets will improve space engine. But will you be able to turn the tails off.

Destroyer123, might want to read the thread because that question has already been asked and asnwered.

Oh yeah, will the tail of both the comets and evaporating planetary atmospheres change length with distance from it's star?

Of course.

I assume they'll dissapear completely once they get past a certain point.

From what I can see, all the comets seem to be pretty similar to comets Halley and Hale-Bopp - which had fairly short tails and big round nuclei. Compare this to Comet McNaught, with its enormous sky-covering tail.

How variable will these aspects of the comets be? Or are these appearances governed more by position of the viewer/comet?
